Deep Eddy is a company that has been serving the Austin area for many years. They were founded in the 1950’s as a clothes washing business that then began to clean rugs and carpet.
They have a long history in Austin, TX but are they worth hiring?
Let’s look closely at them and find out.
Method of Cleaning
Deep Eddy uses the method that is recommended by most carpet mills and that is hot water extraction.
They also use the best form of this method, truck mounted hot water extraction.
You might know this process better as steam cleaning but that is not the most accurate term for this process.
I give them points for the use of arguably the best cleaning method and the best equipment.
It also appears that they use a pre-scrub which should make their cleaning even more effective.
Other Cleaning Services
It becomes very clear that the business that Deep Eddy is most involved in is area rug cleaning.
They have a huge facility dedicated to area rugs and use a unique rainwater cleaning system.
In addition to area rug cleaning, they also clean upholstery, tile and do air duct cleaning.
Most cleaners use cheap air duct cleaning machines but it looks like Deep Eddy has invested in high quality truck mounted equipment.
Few carpet cleaners do this.
So again, points to Deep Eddy on providing quality service.
Deep Eddy charges by the square foot and as a carpet cleaner, I can tell you one thing, that means that they will be expensive.
A glance around the internet appears to confirm this, especially looking at their reviews, but I will get to that in a bit.
Does this make them a bad company?
No, it just means that they are aiming for the upper part of the market, so don’t expect Stanley Steemer pricing.
The website is clean and professional and Deep Eddy obviously is trying to show you that they are committed to quality.
I normally like to see up front pricing information, but being a high priced carpet cleaner, I understand why they do not list prices.
If they did, consumers would get sticker shock and would not call them. Instead, you will need to call them and they can explain what you get for the money and why their prices are higher than other Austin companies.
I always turn to Yelp to get reviews when looking at carpet cleaners.
Other websites like Google and even Angie’s List can be manipulated rather easily.
The reviews for Deep Eddy are very good with most being 5 stars.
There is one rogue 1 star review which brings their average rating down to 4.5 on Yelp.
One bad review is not bad, but I would have liked to see the company owner publicly respond to it.
Overall, the reviews look terrific but they reinforce that the price is considerably higher than other carpet cleaners.
So, what is the verdict? Would I hire Deep Eddy for carpet cleaning in Austin?
Absolutely, if I was looking for a high end carpet cleaning company, I would give them a call.
If I just wanted a basic cleaning or a cleaning for a rental property, I would look for a cheaper company but like anything else you get what you pay for.
I have no doubt, looking at the website and reviews on the internet that this company would do a great job.
They just might sting your pocket book a bit.
